This is the breed many people recall seeing on ponds, strolling about at the
local park, or as the little yellow duckling seen on Easter cards. It is
commonly sought as a market duck and used by restaurants which serve Long
Island Roast Duck. Pekins are an even tempered bird, making for an easily
tamed pet. With their creamy white plumage and bright orange bills and feet,
they make a wonderful addition anywhere. Another obscure note about this breed is
that the character Donald Duck was supposedly modeled after the Pekin duck. |
